Feel your Feelings - But Don't Stop There

Feel Your Feelings—But Don’t Stop There

We’ve all heard the advice:“Feel your feelings.”

Sometimes, it’s exactly what’s needed. You pause. You allow the emotion to rise. You cry, scream, or breathe through it.And then… it passes. Something clears. There’s movement. Release.

But sometimes—it doesn’t work like that.

You do feel the feeling. You cry the tears. You replay the story. You stay with it.

And it just lingers.

For days. For weeks. For way longer than you thought a feeling should last.

And so you start to wonder:

Is this actually healing?Or am I just ruminating?

That was the question swirling in me recently.

And last night, in the realm of dreams, a new layer clicked into place.

I saw that feeling your feelings isn’t the end goal. It’s the doorway.

What actually moves things?Getting to the root.Feeling not just the surface emotion, but the truth underneath it.

Let’s say you feel deeply triggered by something that happened with an ex.The relationship ended 5 years ago—but the emotions are fresh.

You might think, “Wow, I’m still feeling this. I must not be over it.”So you sit with the pain. You feel the sadness.

But what if that’s not the real feeling?

What if the root is something deeper?

  • Fear that you’re not good enough.

  • Fear of getting what you want, only to lose it.

  • Fear of being unlovable or fundamentally wrong.

These are the roots.

And when you allow those to be felt—not just acknowledged mentally, but really allowed in the body—that’s when movement happens.

It’s like swimming.

Sometimes, you’re in the shallow end—your feet can touch, you can stand, and you move on quickly.

But sometimes, you’re dropped into the deep end. You’re treading water, feeling all the things, but you can’t seem to shift it.

That’s when you need to dive.

Touch the bottom. It takes courage. It takes breath.

But when you get there—when you touch the root—something unlocks.

The unknown becomes known. The shadow is no longer something to fear.

You remember: you can navigate through this.

So yes—Feel your feelings. But more importantly:Feel for the root.

That’s the difference between getting stuck… and getting free.

Sending love to all of you riding the emotional waves right now.If you're trying to release heaviness and have been for some time, you may be in the deep end - being called to accept and release the root cause of your pain.

And you are more than enough to find your way through.
